There will be a free screening of a film made some 30 years ago about Charlottesville through the eyes, memories, and wisdom of several residents: George Ferguson, Rebecca McGinness, Sonny Sampson, and Cindy Straton.

Dr. Rosa Atkins, Superintendent of Charlottesville City Schools will be the guest speaker at our March meeting.
Dr. Atkins will speak on educational issues that impact African American students in our city school system.
The meeting will be held at J.P. Burley Middle School and will begin at 7 p.m.

Award, Portrait to Honor UVA and UVA Law’s First Black Student at Feb. 5 Ceremony
The University of Virginia School of Law will honor the late Gregory Hayes Swanson, the first African-American enrollee at UVA and its first black law student, at a ceremony Monday, Feb. 5 in Caplin Pavilion. The event, which is open to the public and begins at 4 p.m., will kick off the school's bicentennial celebration with an unveiling of a portrait of Swanson and the presentation of an award in his honor.
