The Albemarle-Charlottesville Branch of the NAACP would like to thank our Charlottesville, and surrounding communities, for your show of support at our Friday, September 27th banquet. This was a very special night for our community. The J.P. Burley/UVA “HIDDEN NURSES” were honored – 17 of the nurses were in attendance. The tribute to the nurses was presented by Mrs. Marcha Payne Howard, the daughter of one of the hidden nurses – Mrs. Catherine Payne,, and was followed by a thank you song “Choice of Color”, sung by Ms. Tonia Ray.
We thank the University of Virginia School of Nursing for playing a major role in bring this project to a reality.
